Pokertracker
What is pokertracker?
For the people who never heard about pokertracker, it is a tool to analyze your game and that of your opponents. Pokertracker can “read” hand histories from your computer and convert it into useful data. Pokertracker comes in three flavors:
• Texas Holdem
• Omaha
• 7 Stud
Of course the omaha and 7-stud version support high an high-low games. Good news for the razz players it is supported as well!
There is a trial available at pokertracker
The trial is limited to 1000 hands but that will be enough to get a good idea whether you like it or not. You pay $ 55 for the first version and $ 45 for the second or third and you don’t have to order them at the same time.
Why use pokertracker?
The main reason why I use pokertracker is for game analyses. You can replay every hand and that is really valuable in itself. It is even more valuable because you can see your opponents cards during the game and see how they play there hands.
Pokertracker also keeps me from going on tilt in some cases. The showdowns at most sites are so fast that it is really difficult to see what you opponent really had. Sometimes you think that your opponent is really lucky but when you replay the hand you see that he had a legitimate hand.
The other reason why is use poker tracker is to have more information about a player in a tough situation. I explicitly say in a tough situation because I think it is not a good idea to base your decisions on pokertracker data only.
The fourth reason why I use pokertracker is to keep score.
Sometimes you miss a few hands so the ‘keep score function’ is not 100% accurate, but for me it’s good enough!
